An annual award established in 1979, the Walter L. Arnold Trapper of the Year award is given to one outstanding trapper. The candidates for this award are nominated by their peers. Letters are submitted to the President of the MTA in July of each year stating the accomplishments of the trapper, offices held, volunteer work and any other comments they feel appropriate.
